Hi, my name is Justin, and welcome to my blog! This is where I’ll post my thoughts, opinions, rants, comments, and random links to funny cat pictures. And maybe at some point in the future, a video blog (but let’s not get carried away now…)
So, a little bit about me. I’m a freshman at RIT studying computer networking (specifically, Applied Networking and Systems Administration, if anyone wants to know). I’m an OS X and Linux user, and Windows if the situation calls for it (or in other words, if I need to get my Fallout 3 fix). I just got one of the new unibody MacBook Pros, and I absolutely love it. When I’m not studying, I enjoy hanging out with friends, playing video games on my Xbox, browsing the interwebz, watching TV shows/movies (Colbert FTW), or just sleeping (sleep is important, after all). I also will occasionally get involved with a project that takes up some of my free time (most recently, I made a UHF HDTV antenna out of a wood plank and clothes hangers).
I’ve semi-settled on the name “JustinLog”. It’s the best name that I’ve been able to come up with so far (why does nothing good rhyme with “Justin”?), but consider it as a beta title. When I settle on a final title, I’ll get a domain name, but until then, it’s justinlog.tumblr.com
This site is powered by Tumblr, so I guess that it’s not a blog so much as it is a “tumblelog”. I haven’t used it for long, but I like it so far. I like the emphasis on not needing to post long stories (or even include a title); you can post tiny snippets of text, pictures, links, quotes, chats, audio, or video (in addition to a full text post, of course). I also like the posting mechanisms (the dashboard widget, AIM bot, and email in addition to using the actual site). The simplistic and elegant themes are very nice (not that I couldn’t design my own, but I just lack the time and will to do so), and you are allowed to modify the direct HTML as well. Also, they allow you to associate a custom domain name for free, which I intend to take advantage of at some point in the future.
So that’s all for now, but expect more very soon. I plan to make a meaningful post around once every week or two, and occasionally put up a cool picture or link that I find. So check back, and if you want to stay up to date, subscribe to the RSS feed.
